MUMF 2019 Memories

'Meet The Ukulele Makers 2019' ran in early June 2019. We would like to thank all of the artists, makers, attendees and helpers for making this event another enjoyable and successful one. This was the second year that 'MUMF' ran and we are now looking forward to a third festival in 2020! If you'd like to see what happened at the inaugural 2018 event, click HERE.

All MUMF events have been housed in the same venue at Plas Tan y Bwlch, Snowdonia. The aim is to curate a different type of ukulele festival which is focussed as much on the art and craft of ukulele building as playing. This year the building side of the instrument was catered for with sessions on selecting materials, painting, grain filling, binding and bag making. Of course, players weren't forgotten with workshops by Phil Doleman and Richard Durrant (who taught a three part, specially written ensemble ukulele piece) along with performances, jams and open mic sessions. And all of this in a weekend! One lucky attendee even walked away with a Pete Howlett ukulele as a draw prize. Once more we have had some lovely feedback from those who were there.

Here are some photos, and some of the nice comments.

Thank you both for an absolutely blast of a weekend! We all had a really enjoyable and memorable time at MUMF and we're already talking about next year!

We had a fantastic weekend...I know we learned a lot whilst having a great deal of fun. The location and staff are excellent too. Looking forward to next year very much.

A fantastic festival - we really enjoyed it. We met some lovely and like-minded people which made it even better.

The atmosphere at the festival was great and people were so friendly. The accommodation was comfortable and the food plentiful and tasty.

It was an absolute joy to be there. I thoroughly enjoyed all of it.

Absolutely fantastic weekend. So much to do, lovely people. Venue is great. Staff welcoming. Food excellent. I do hope you will hold another one.

Fabulous weekend. It was difficult to choose between the various workshops- all so interesting. Great to have had an ensemble piece to work on before the Festival. Food has been plentiful and good quality. All staff very helpful and friendly. Open mic session at the Oakeley Arms was great fun. Great to have a chance to talk to different ukulele makers and try out the variety of instruments on show. Wonderful to meet new people and have time to chat.

I just wanted to say thanks for organising MUMF. I had a great time. It was really useful to attend the making workshops and also to talk with all of the other makers.
